Insurers should pay
I continue to see numerous articles in newspapers and magazines about insurers not paying the bill for their clients, or if they do pay, it is only after much hassle and possibly a law suit. Insurers have an obligation to "pay up" when the insurance is needed by the individual paying the premium. What other reason do we carry insurance? The insurer wastes very little time getting the premium billing out. My partner's business insurer actually sent a premium billing over six month early as a reminder to pay by the due date six months from now. Stupid? Insurers seem to drag their feet every chance they get before releasing any dollars. Oh, I'm sure there are the good ones that pay immediately, but they seem to be few and far between. Insurers...pay up! You seem to have no problem demanding our premiums...

I agree
I think health insurance in particular is very deceptive in their practices. The most deceptive term in the business is "allowed amount". They pay 80% of the "allowed amount" after the deductible is met. The crux is that the "allowed amount" is only 50%of the charged amount and doctor still wants the whole thing! Then only the "allowed amount" is charged to the deductible so it takes four visits to the doctor before any deductible is met. Then the Dr. and you have to file a half dozen forms before you get reimbursed and on and on... Finally you just pay the Dr. and the insurance bill because we are afraid to be without it.
