Capitalism is good....
Capitalism is good and is a major component of "building your dream" in America. However, some "capitalists" have ruined it for everybody through their greed and lack of ethics.(Wall Street take note!) Too many so-called conservatives have cried "we will police ourselves! No regulations are needed!" And then they promptly took advantage of the situation and behaved greedily and unethicly.(Is this the Christian way?...not hardly!) Now those who do believe in "regulation" must clean up the mess. And the capitalist conservatives still scream "no regualtion!" Bad apple capitalists...and I venture to say...non-practicing Christians, have ruined the concept of "proper" capitalism. Why didn't the ethical capitalists police the capitalism ranks? A lesson is learned here....don't tolerate the greedy and unethical! They have given capitalism a very bad name! Boomers, as a leading generation, we must help "right the boat!"

Cashing in on the Boomers
So much is written and even advertised about the Baby Boomers getting older and needing more medical care, physical assistance, and medications. Retirement homes, assisted living homes, and "rest homes" are sprouting up everywhere in anticipation of Boomers becoming elderly. There is alot of life and energy left in this famous generation. An interesting blog talks about other items and events that might be considered essential(or even non-essential, but fun) for Boomers that can result in promising businesses for those seeking to cash in on Boomers. Interesting....and do you have additional ideas?

Retirement....then what?
Boomers are seeking to find the best time and place to "retire". Not so fast! An article I was reading earlier today advised boomers to do more than just retire. Just "resting" and lathering sun tan lotion upon the body can have psychological consequences. Depression can set in and your sunset years can be shortened. Find something worthwhile to do.....volunteer, start a business, work part time, hobbies, etc. Live longer!

Boomers and health insurance
The Boomer generation has to be watching the progress of the health care (insurance) revisions going through Congress at this time. Boomers are a generation in transition and health insurance is a major factor considered when making life-changing decisions. Retirement? Starting a new business? Staying with the present job? Working part-time? Self-paid insurance premiums certainly restrict contributions to retirement funds. Boomers, hang in there and let your thoughts be known!

What is happening?
I'd like to share(with her permission) an excellent writing by my Aunt Lynn regarding the present state of affairs in the good 'ole USA:
THE FORGOTTEN ONES—THE WATCHERS
(A Reminder for our Elected Leaders)
Written by Lynn Werdin, September, 2009
The Children are watching
What do they see—
How to be leaders in the Land of the Free??
Our future is watching
What do they see—
How to solve problems…how to lie, cheat and steal?
That our government ethics are dead and unreal?
You are like gulls,
all proud, fluffy, puffy and “right”—
But your mouths open crying, “Mine! Mine! Mine!”
Sounding none too bright.
Your grandchildren are watching
What do they see?
“I’M” what’s important—not what can I do to help give a hand,
To the people who are suffering in our great land.
The children are watching
What have they learned?
1. It’s OK to start a war by lying so the rich can have more?
2. It’s fine to leave your family behind for a mistress or whore?
3. Don’t listen to others—just shout them down.
It might make you a 5 minute “hero” in town.
4. Never discuss anything or cross the floor.
Reform isn’t worth the chore.
(While people are dying, crying, for lack of healthcare, food, shelters, jobs…)
5. Choices are made not by reasoning it out
But by trying to show you have some clout.
6. The people of the “family” are the chosen few.
They think they can do anything…and they do.
7. Do anything, say anything to get re-elected if you can—
You need the wonderful healthcare and retirement plan.
8. Our media jumps on the words of disdain
Shouted and bounced by a man who wants fame.
Instead of reporting the facts, the truth as they must.
So now everyone listens with distrust and disgust.
9. Rumors are powerful given out first—egg on the face when the truth is finally heard.
Be seen—be heard! It doesn’t matter if what you say has the value of a turd.
Our young people are watching
Dropping out on the side…
Drugs, alcohol, suicide.
They’ve seen the core leadership of our nation.
They’ve seen the children left behind (by NCLB)
Sometimes the brightest and our future salvation
They need leaders with hopes—not dopes.
The children are watching
What do they see?
We voted for change, more honesty and with reason be led.
We voted with our hearts, our hands, our heads.
But…the gulls keep screeching “Mine! Mine! Mine!”
Strutting their stuff, creating more poo and fluff.
Our Eagles need to stand tall and in sight
So the children who are watching can see, hear, and learn everyday.
They need to see heros--not people laden down with feet of clay.
The children are watching
They need to see respect for the leaders of us all.
They saw how you “all” claimed to be Teddy’s friend (and knew it wasn’t so—
they live playground politics everyday)…Again, another blow!
They need to see people think, plan and grow.
They need to see values really valued—not used as a big show.
We elected our leader—he gave us some hope.
He will make mistakes—he’s not God or the Pope.
He’s shown through his actions his respect for life—his daughters and wife.
He said we need change and he is so right.
And some of you out there need to remember…“He is also half white.”
Parents, teachers, preachers, all workers with children.
All of us know they do as we do.
They watch us every day.
They do as we do, not what we say.
Our children are watching you—Our leaders, parents and me.
What will WE see in the future?
What kind of leaders will THEY be?
How will they lead—will it still be a strong, respected country?
Will it be the LAND OF THE FREE?
Will THEY lead with honor, respect, and dignity?
